[TA] arises from ventral primary rami of the fifth to seventh cervical nerves and passes downward to supply the levator scapulae and the rhomboideus major and minor muscles. SYN: nervus dorsalis scapulae [TA], dorsal nerve of scapula, nerve to rhomboid, posterior scapular nerve.
