Antifolate

Compounds with chemical structures similar to folic acid, a key component in cell proliferation, which interfere with folic acid metabolism. Folate antagonists inhibit one or more folate-dependent enzymes, resulting in decreased DNA, RNA and protein synthesis. (NCI)
