Impingement test

(1) diagnostic test in which local anesthetic is injected into the subacromial space of a patient with impingement signs; relief of pain following the injection during provocative maneuvers is helpful in confirming the subacromial space as the source of the symptoms. (2) SYN: impingement sign.
