The holder of a valid Certificate issued by the National Fire Protection Association in accordance with the “Rules for the Certification and Recertification of Marine Chemists,†establishing the person’s qualifications to determine whether construction, alteration, repair, or shipbreaking of vessels can be undertaken with safety. Activities of a Marine Chemist, as defined in this section, are limited to the inspection and certification procedures described in this standard and consulting services connected therewith.
