Arginemia

A congenital disorder where arginase deficiency is causes a high level of arginine in the blood. Total deficiency causes death and partial deficiency causes hyperammonemia, metabolic alkalosis, convulsions, hepatomegaly, mental retardation and failure to grow. Also called arginase deficiency.
